Baby Registering

Well it's all fun and games until its time to make the baby registry public. Wow, I have spent too much time thinking and researching things. The nice thing about the internet is constantly being able to change my mind and update from the website. Or maybe that's not such a nice thing....

Here is a picture at 21 weeks. Barley wanted to make sure we got her good side :)

Fancy

So we decided on gray walls, with purple and yellow as our accent colors for baby's room. Maybe I should have looked at what was available first for bedding lol. As long as they have solid colored sheets (which they do), it will be fine. Here is a picture of one of my favorite rooms I have found on Pinterest. Too bad we don't live in a thatched roof hut ;)

So mommies what's the one (or a couple) things you could not live without after having your baby?
Thanks for all the advice ladies! As for the diapers, Alex is dead set against cloth...but I think that's because he doesn't get how they work. I'm going to do both. Start off with a few cloth ones with liners, and also have disposable on hand. That way we can try them both out without putting too much of an investment into the cloth. As for the bumper...I decided on a breathable one from Target. Kristin, I checked out the skip hop brand and loved it. I think I just picked bad colors though because I couldn't find anything with the pattern I wanted. You guys are the best!

How to post comments?

Ok, so I was trying to reply to the comments, and it won't let me! I click on sign in in the right hand top corner, and it takes me to my home page where I can write posts and stuff. But then when I click on "view blog" to post a comment, I can see the blog and the comments, write my own comment, and then when I click "publish" nothing happens. I don't know if its signing me out every time I click on "view blog" or what. I also tried to comment on another blog (Kristin's) and the same thing happened. How did you guys do it?

So the question of the day is bumper or no bumper? I've heard several times that a bumper isn't "safe" anymore. However, every crib set includes a bumper! I feel like the bumper makes the crib too (at least how it looks). So am I going to be a bad mom if I register for a bumper? How ever did we survive as kids....

Second question of the day....cloth or regular diapers? I had wanted to use cloth but then resigned to regular. With being a new mom and starting an internship that is going to be quite stressful (as I can imagine) I was convinced that cloth diapers were not something I would have time for. However, I'm learning about the cloth diapers that have "disposable" linings. Now, that sounds like the best of both worlds. Maybe not quite as much work, but still softer and easier on baby's skin. But then I was thinking....well, if the lining is disposable, why not just use a disposable diaper? I mean, I'm just saying....

Alex's early Father's Day present :)

We might have gone a little overboard......

The ultrasound tech screamed at one point during the screen, and scared the crap out of us! Turns out, she was just excited because she got a shot of the baby smiling...

Here's our baby girl! Turns out she's a healthy 12 oz and according to the "computer" is due October 23rd based on size and weight. I think we're still keeping our original due date of the 25th though.

Most amazing thing about this ultrasound was being able to see the baby in real time and to see her mouth moving constantly! Apparently she's going to be a talker like her daddy and an eater like her mommy :)

20 weeks couldn't get here fast enough! Its time to find out the gender of this baby! Alex and I went for the ultrasound on June 6th and found out that its....A GIRL! Well...80% chance anyways. The tech couldn't guarantee it and said the most they can guarantee is 80%. But she looked about five times and couldn't find any boy parts. So we're VERY sure what that means.....

Lots of shopping for clothes!

And lots of cute outfits for a daddy's girl...
At 18 weeks I felt the baby move for the first time! I was sitting in class on a Friday night and just knew it was the baby and not a gas bubble :)
16 weeks was my first appointment with a midwife. We decided to switch from our OB to the midwife because things were going well. The midwives definitely fit my philosophy on birth better and I felt more comfortable with them. We're hoping that continues throughout the pregnancy. The midwife was able to find the heartbeat right away and said it was about 155 per minute.

So weirdest thing I've encountered...I barely have a bump in the morning.............

And a much bigger bump at night! These pictures were taken on the same day, so weird

As far as food cravings go...I wanted everything that smelled good! I can't say there were particular items, except fruit. I ate (and still do eat) multiple servings of fruits everyday! I guess its not a bad thing, but not very balanced since I still hate vegetables!

Between 10-14 weeks I definitely noticed a change in my belly. I definitely wanted my baby to grow but was a little worried that I would never see my feet again by  looking straight down! The funny and most unexpected thing about all of this is that when I would wake up in the morning, I had no belly! As I ate all day, my belly got bigger and bigger. My friends laughed and said I was making excuses for my "bump" but I think it truly was a food bump not a baby bump!

                                                                        14 weeks

10 weeks

Here is a picture my mother in law took of Alex and I at her house. Here I am 10 weeks, not that you can see my belly!

For some reason, I felt good and had that "glow" of being pregnant. Too bad that only lasted about a week or so....
I found out at my friend's wedding that I was a bridesmaid in at 10 weeks, that the baby likes to dance and doesn't need any alcohol to have a great time! This is something I will remind my little one of when they are in college!

My experience of morning sickness wasn't too bad. I definitely felt sick for about a month (from 6-9 weeks) and felt bad all day long. BUT...I didn't throw up. I just really wanted to eat Jennio lean turkey sausage and coke, and that was about it! Too bad those things weren't "recommended" for pregnancy :)

8 weeks

On March 12, 2012 we had our first doctor appointment! I was so relieved to finally go to the Dr. and make sure everything was OK. We had our first ultrasound....
It was so amazing to see the heartbeat! I had no idea that we would see the heartbeat on the ultrasound so it was an awesome surprise! Seeing the head, arms, and legs that were forming (even though it was the size of a blueberry) made us feel like everything was going to be ok, even though we were still in the first trimester.

Here are our first pregnancy pictures. Six weeks and no baby bump yet! Don't mind the wrinkles...

WELCOME!

I'm starting this blog at 19 weeks and 4 days! I actually signed up to Blog about 13 weeks ago and am finally writing my first post. There's so much to catch up on! I always imagined that when we got pregnant I would write everything down and keep track of all the new exciting things that were going to happen. And then reality set in...I work full time and go to school full time. Duh. Anyways, better late than never! I have some pictures to update that go back to us finding out we were pregnant.

We found out on the wonderful February 14, 2012! I don't know exactly how long we were trying but about 14 months. We were giving up after January, because we didn't want to give birth during Jan-Jun 2013 because that is when I will have a six month internship to complete grad school. So God decided January was the month, and to reveal it to us on Valentine's Day! We were sooooooooo happy!
